"Child Abuse in Religious Communities"
Richard Scorer is Head of the Abuse Team at Slater and Gordon Lawyers. Richard will discuss his experiences in representing survivors of child abuse in religious communities, particularly the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Islamic schools and Madrassahs. He will talk about how religious organisations use particular techniques, drawn from religion, to silence victims of abuse and to cover up scandal, and about his work in challenging the silencing of victims in these communities.
